Email migration
Migrate to MoovMail from Google, Microsoft 365, Zoho, and IMAP—without a weekend blackout
August 2026 · 8 min read · By Tamba Solutions
Moving business email is less about “export everything tonight” and more about a controlled cutover. MoovMail from Tamba Solutions supports phased migration: pilot a few users, keep your current MX while history syncs, then switch DNS when you are ready. Provider-specific guides live on moovmail.com/migration.
What this guide covers
- Three migration paths: server-to-server (OAuth/IMAP), archive import (PST/OST, MBOX, EML), and bulk user mapping.
- Provider playbooks for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Zoho, GoDaddy, Hostinger, Namecheap, Apple, Yahoo, and generic IMAP.
- A practical cutover checklist so finance and sales stay online during the move.
Why phased migration beats a “big bang” switch
Most SMEs still have live threads in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or hosting-panel mail (GoDaddy, Hostinger, Namecheap). Turning off the old provider before history is verified creates helpdesk noise and lost attachments. MoovMail’s model is explicit: register the domain, start import from Admin → Domain → Start Migration, pilot first, keep MX during sync, then cut over.
That approach matches how Indian companies actually roll out—batch by department, not all 200 seats on a Sunday night.
Three ways to bring mail into MoovMail
1. Server to server (OAuth or IMAP)
Use this when the source mailbox is still active. OAuth (where the provider supports it) or IMAP credentials let MoovMail pull live mail for a cleaner cutover. Best for Google Workspace / Gmail and Microsoft 365 when you want staged sync without desktop exports.
2. Archive import (PST / OST, MBOX, EML)
Choose archive paths when legal hold, desktop Outlook exports, or Apple Mail MBOX files already exist. Outlook and Microsoft environments often land here via PST; Apple and some IMAP hosts lean on MBOX or EML.
3. Bulk user migration (CSV / Excel)
For company-wide batches, map users with a spreadsheet, track staged readiness, and expand after the pilot proves folders, calendars, and search look right. This is the path ops teams use when cutting over an entire branch or legal entity.
Provider playbooks (what to expect)
Each guide on MoovMail Migration keeps the same structure: options available, details you need, and single-user vs bulk. Summary:
- Google Workspace / Gmail — OAuth, IMAP, or MBOX; single users or full-company batches.
- Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online — OAuth, IMAP, or PST; staged sync and admin mapping.
- Outlook — PST, live IMAP sync, or desktop-assisted export (EML).
- GoDaddy Email — IMAP sync or PST archive import.
- Hostinger Email — IMAP or MBOX-assisted import.
- Namecheap Private Email — IMAP and EML options.
- Zoho Mail — IMAP sync, admin-led planning, or MBOX-assisted onboarding.
- Apple Mail / iCloud — iCloud IMAP or Apple Mail MBOX exports.
- Yahoo Mail — primarily IMAP (EML where needed).
- Other IMAP — standard IMAP host, port, and mailbox mapping for custom domain hosts.
Recommended cutover checklist
- Inventory — list domains, aliases, shared mailboxes, and who owns MX today.
- Setup organization — create the MoovMail org, verify DNS records MoovMail asks for (SPF/DKIM when prompted), and provision pilot seats.
- Pilot 3–10 users — start migration from Admin; verify folders, search, and large attachments.
- Keep old MX — leave mail delivery on the current provider while sync runs so nobody misses inbound mail.
- Expand batches — migrate remaining users with CSV/Excel mapping if needed.
- Cut over MX — when sync quality is confirmed, point MX to MoovMail and monitor for 48–72 hours.
- Decommission — retire old seats only after a quiet period and backup confirmation.
Where Tamba Solutions helps
Self-serve paths are documented on moovmail.com. If you need hands-on migration—multi-domain Google Workspace, hybrid Microsoft 365 + PST legal archives, or a plant with Hostinger mailboxes and a Zoho sales team—book a MoovMail demo with Tamba Solutions. The same team that builds MoovMail can plan batches, DNS, and cutover windows with your IT owner.

FAQ
Do we have to move every user on day one?
No. MoovMail supports one user or many. Pilot first, keep current MX during sync, then expand—exactly the model described on the migration hub.
Can we migrate from both Google and Microsoft in one company?
Yes. Run provider-specific paths per group (OAuth/IMAP for live mailboxes; PST where Outlook archives already exist), then unify on MoovMail after each batch verifies.
What about GoDaddy, Hostinger, or Namecheap mail?
Those are covered as IMAP (and archive) guides on moovmail.com/migration—common for SMEs that started on hosting-panel email and now want a proper enterprise mailbox.
Where do we click to start import?
After organization setup: Admin → Domain → Start Migration. Use the provider guide that matches your current host before you change MX.
